City of Rochester

News Release

(Tuesday, May 8, 2012) – Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada and City Councilmember Elaine Spaull joined co-owners Chuck and Joann Formoso for a ribbon cutting of Ristorante Lucano Specialty Shoppe at 1803 East Ave.

The 1,000-sqaure-foot space offers patrons many of the same ingredients that are used in the signature dishes of Ristorante Lucano, which is located just a few doors down at 1815 East Ave.

“When the space became available, I decided that it was time to expand,” said Chuck Formoso. “We look forward to providing service in the neighborhood and the city for many, many years to come.”

The idea for the specialty shop was born when diners at Ristorante Lucano frequently inquired about the restaurant’s ingredients and where to buy them.

The shop sells specialty items, such as Mozzarella di Bufala, gnocchi, sauces and more.

Formoso hopes the new space will allow the restaurant to offer catering for special events in the future.

The specialty shop created two new jobs and there are plans to hire four to six additional employees over the next three years.

The specialty shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
