News Release

(Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017) – The 21st annual Holidays at the Market event series continues this weekend at the City of Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with two Sundays remaining: Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.

“For more than two decades, Holidays at the Market has been a favorite holiday tradition in our community,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “The City of Rochester Public Market is a great place to enjoy free family-friendly events year-round, and it’s a particularly special place to visit at this festive time of year. Holidays at the Market is just one of more than 50 free events, in addition to our regular Market shopping days, that help us create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, more jobs and better educational opportunities for our citizens.”

Each year, Holidays at the Market features dozens of vendors with arts and crafts, decorations, holiday food delicacies, gifts, stocking stuffers and much more. Shoppers can also take advantage of a wide selection of holiday trees, wreaths, fresh garlands and a variety of other holiday goods and goodies.

Holidays at the Market wouldn’t be complete without a very special guest - - Santa! Kids and their families can take a free horse-drawn carriage ride with Santa around the Market grounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can also enjoy free holiday cookie decorating.

The new, state-of-the-art indoor vendor shed will also be open for the next two Sundays, with many favorite vendors on hand.

Once again, we will be hosting the highly competitive Market Holiday Cookie Contest. Anyone interested in entering to win Market gift tokens, along with serious bragging rights, should bring a dozen of their best cookies, along with a copy of the recipe, to the Market Office on Saturday, Dec. 9, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., or Sunday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Judging will commence at noon on December 10.

Holiday patrons can also give the gift of the Market by purchasing market-branded merchandise, which will be sold from the new indoor “B” shed on both Sundays. Public Market gift tokens and items such as shopping bags, hooded sweatshirts, tee-shirts, cookbooks and more will be available for sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
