News Release - Holidays at the Market Continues for the Fourth and Final Week This Sunday

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that the City of Rochester Public Market will host its fourth and final Holidays at the Market event for this season on Sunday, December 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Originally scheduled for just three consecutive Sundays, the popularity of the event, combined with requests for holiday-themed shopping days at the Market over the weekend after Thanksgiving as well as closer to the Christmas holiday, inspired the decision to add the fourth date.

“Given the popularity of Holidays at the Market, the City of Rochester is very pleased to be able to offer this additional bonus Sunday to our constituents,” said Mayor Warren. “During this busy time of year, this event provides a wonderful opportunity for families to spend some quality time together shopping, having fun, and enjoying all of the festive foods and merchandise our many vendors have to offer.”

A signature Rochester holiday tradition, as well as a free-admission special event for 22 years, Holidays at the Market features vendors that offer a wide array of holiday-oriented goods and gifts, including trees and wreaths, garlands and decorations, specialty foods, honey and maple products, local wines and beverages, as well as a wide array of gift items, cozy winter clothing, arts and crafts, and more.

Seasonal and international produce will also be available, and the new indoor “B” Shed will be open, with many of the Market’s regular vendors on hand.

The Holidays at the Market event series is definitely a family event. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children and their families can enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides with Santa around the Market grounds. Patrons should be aware, however, that the number of available carriage rides is limited, and tickets will be issued to families/groups on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be obtained from the new indoor “B” Shed beginning at 10 a.m.

Free holiday cookie decorating station and art station will also be open for kids and their families in the indoor “B” Shed. Prepared food vendors will be on hand and food stands will be open for the event, along with the permanent cafes, bakeries, retail shops, and other private businesses in the surrounding Market District.

You can also give the gift of the Market by purchasing Public Market gift tokens and Market-branded items such as shopping bags, hooded sweatshirts, tee-shirts, caps, historical prints and Market history books, aprons, bumper stickers, onesies for the babies, and the always popular Public Market cookbooks. These items will be on sale in the indoor “B” Shed.

The City of Rochester and the Public Market extend special thanks to the Market District Business Association for their additional support, which has made this extra Holidays at the Market event possible.
