(Thursday, January 18, 2018) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren is
offering information and individualized help to residents needing health
insurance coverage under the State’s Health Insurance Marketplace before the
January 31 deadline
“If we want to continue creating more jobs, safer and
more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities, it is
incumbent upon us to help families get the health care they need,” Mayor Warren
said. “I urge citizens needing health insurance to take advantage of the
assistance available at our local libraries and get covered before the January
31 deadline.”
Healthcare Navigators from LawNY, Fidelis Care, Excellus
Blue Cross Blue Shield and Coordinated Care Services, Inc. will help
individuals and families enroll in or renew coverage at the following locations
and times:
- 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, January 18, Winton Branch Library,
611 N. Winton Road
- 1 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 23, Lyell Branch Library,
956 Lyell Ave.
- 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, Sully Branch Library,
530 Webster Ave.
- Noon to 6 p.m., Wednesdays January 24 and 31, Central
Library, 115 South Ave., third floor Health Section
- 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, Phillis Wheatley
Library, 33 Dr. Samuel McCree Way.
Those enrolled in a State Marketplace plan saw their
benefits end on Dec. 31, 2017. Residents may either renew their current health
plan or choose a new health plan through the Marketplace during the open
enrollment period, which concludes on January 31.
Those seeking assistance with enrolling are asked to
bring current income documents such as paystubs for the past two months. No
