City Hall on Two-Hour Delay, Refuse and Recycling Collection Delayed

City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, March 2, 2018) – City Hall, City offices, Neighborhood Service Centers, City branch libraries and the Rundel Library are on a two-hour delay due to inclement weather and will open at 11 a.m. City R-Centers and will open at their regularly scheduled hours of operation.

In addition, the City is postponing today’s residential refuse and recycling collection in order to use personnel and equipment for snow removal. City residents whose collection day is normally Friday are asked to place their toters out on Friday evening for a Saturday morning collection.

Mayor Lovely A. Warren is encouraging city residents to abide by the Monroe County Travel Advisory restrictions and avoid any unnecessary travel in the City of Rochester and Monroe County.

Residents are urged to adhere to the alternate-side parking regulations. These regulations are important during and after snow events -- just one car parked on the wrong side of the street can be an impediment to snow plows.

Give the plows plenty of space to do their job.

Residents can track snow plow progress in real time at www.cityofrochester.gov/plowtrax.

Residents are reminded that it is their obligation to keep the sidewalks in front of their homes and businesses clear. They are also asked to keep fire hydrants clear.

It is illegal to shovel or plow snow into the street or public right of way
