(Thursday, March 29, 2018) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and Zagster Co-Founder Tim Ericson announced today that bike sharing returns to the streets of Rochester Friday with an expanded coverage area, enhanced features and a new name: Pace.
“I am thrilled to welcome dockless bike sharing back to Rochester for another great season and am looking forward to seeing all the enhancements that come with Zagster’s new Pace service,” said Mayor Warren. “Thanks to the efforts of Zagster, we have been able to demonstrate how a dynamic bikeshare system can be an integral component of our complete-streets transportation network and bolster our efforts to create more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for our citizens.”

With more parking, an enhanced Pace app, and continued strong partnerships with the city and our Pace partners, we look forward to seeing even more robust ridership this year.”
Pace is the new dockless bike sharing service powered by Zagster, the nation’s leading provider of modern, flexible bike share services with more than 200 bike shares across 35 states. With Pace ROC, riders in Rochester can rent, hold and return bikes at any dedicated Pace parking location or from any public bike rack available throughout the city.
The Pace relaunch and rebrand will build upon the momentum from a strong 2017 bike sharing debut, during which Rochester riders logged more than 22,000 trips in just three months. For the 2018 season, Pace ROC features:
• Increased scope and scale: New Pace bike parking covering more areas of the city to increase the system’s reach, convenience and equity.
• Fee-free locking at public bike racks: Removal of the $1 fee to lock Pace bikes to public bike racks.
• Deeper community engagement: To get more Rochester residents riding, and to mitigate parking and traffic issues associated with recurring community activities, Pace will offer promotions including ride credits and free rides.
To use Pace, riders download the free Pace bike sharing app available in the App Store and Google Play. Existing bike share riders in Rochester can sign in to Pace using their Zagster credentials. Riders find available bikes and parking locations in the Pace app, and can unlock bikes with just a few taps. Rides cost $1 per 30 minutes, and the first 30-minute ride for every new user is free. Rochester bikes will be open to riders at 10 a.m. Friday.
Pace is the only dockless bike sharing service that ensures shared bikes are always properly parked and locked with its unique “lock-to” platform. Every Pace bike features a two-point locking system that secures bikes to fixed objects — not just to themselves — when not in use. Pace provides dedicated bike share parking to host cities to keep bikes in predictable locations, but also makes it easy to find public bike racks during a trip to enable point-to-point travel and lock up anywhere.
