City of Rochester
News Release
(Monday, April 9, 2018) – Deputy Mayor Cedric Alexander, on
behalf of Mayor Lovely A. Warren, joined Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce
President Bob Duffy and Rhonda Neal, Executive Director for Career Pathways
& College and Business Partnerships for the Rochester City School District,
to welcome engineering firm Fisher Associates to Downtown today. The firm moved
from Henrietta to 180 Charlotte St.
“Fisher Associates chose Downtown Rochester to be a part of
the incredible transformation taking place,” Mayor Warren said. “At their new
location on Charlotte Street, Fisher Associates will have a front row seat to
the exciting developments and innovations occurring in our Center City as we
work to create more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better
educational opportunities.”
Founded in 1984, Fisher Associates provides technical and
engineering solutions in the transportation, land development and energy market
sectors. After growing to 65 employees at their Henrietta location, they
outgrew their space and decided to move Downtown. The new space will allow them
to continue to add jobs.
They also have locations in Buffalo, Syracuse, Erie and
Canonsburg, PA. Fisher has worked on a number of City projects, including
the Jefferson Avenue Revitalization, the Center City Two-Way Conversion and the
Bull’s Head Brownfield Opportunity Area Revitalization Plan.
“The Rochester Chamber congratulates Fisher Associates on
the move to Downtown,” said Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and
CEO Bob Duffy. “The company has an impressive track record of success and this
move gives us great confidence for its future. Rochester Chamber is pleased to
have Fisher Associates as a member and stands ready to help it achieve even
greater things in any way we can.”
"Fisher Associates continues to be a leader in the
transportation, energy and land development industries," said County
Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. "With a strong focus on economic development,
Monroe County is proud to support their ongoing job creation efforts. We look
forward to our continued partnership with Fisher Associates as they further our
county's reputation as a great place to do business."
The company offers internships to college students and
shadowing programs for high school students. They plan to partner with the
Rochester City School District to provide students from grades 5 through 12
with mentoring opportunities and exposure to the workforce.
“I’m proud to be part of a company that has worked to
enhance the community we call home,” said Roseann Schmid, Chief Executive
Officer of Fisher Associates. “Rochester is going through a renaissance and
Fisher Associates is excited to continue as a partner in this effort by having
the opportunity to bring our expertise to future noteworthy projects that will
brand the Rochester as a top city in which to live, work, and play. In
addition, we are excited to become a business partner with the Rochester City
School District to expose students to career opportunities that will enhance
our local work force, and close the gap that exists for highly-trained workers
who could fill positions at consulting engineering and professional service
firms like ours.”
