News Release - Party in the Park Kicks Off Tomorrow with New Enhancements, Bazaar in the Park & Brooklyn Powerfunk Band Turkuaz

(Wednesday, June 6, 2018) – Now in its 22nd year, Party in the Park is back again this summer, bigger and better than ever. The nine-week series of low-cost concerts starts this Thursday, June 7th, kicking off the City’s outdoor live music scene for the summer with Brooklyn powerfunk band Turkuaz on the CGI Communications Stage, presented by Five Star Bank.

“Party in the Park is, without a doubt, the soundtrack for the summer in Rochester,” Mayor Lovely Warren said. “These concerts are yet another reason why people and job-creators are choosing Rochester, because music makes our city a great place to live, creating vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities. Please come out and join us as we celebrate summer in Rochester with some great food and great music.”

Events will begin at 5 p.m. each Thursday at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square. The MVP Healthcare Family Zone will be on site each week. New features this year include:

• New and improved state-of-the-art sound system
• A 9-foot x 16-foot digital screen so that everyone can enjoy the performers from anywhere in the park
• Craft beer garden featuring rotating showcase of IPA’s, ciders, stouts and more!
• A Bubbly Bar with prosecco and sparkling rose
• Happy Hour Specials from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with $4 (14oz) Genny & Genny Lights
• VIP Ultra Lounge that will feature access to the VIP Experience Tent with a lounge area, cash bar, table service, private A/C restrooms, front stage access and a commemorative lanyard. Tickets to the VIP Ultra Lounge are $35 advance and will be available on a limited basis for each show
• Bazaar in the Park – a weekly collective of emerging designers, vintage collectors, exhibitors, artisans and community art
• An American Sign Language interpreter for all headline acts

Different food trucks and vendors will be on site for each concert and will vary from week to week. On June 7, the following food trucks will be available:
• Sonny’s Landing
• Tony Tomatoes Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza
• Chef’s Catering
• Rochester Kettle Corn
• Neno’s Gourmet Mexican Street Food

“This festival brings thousands of music fans and friends to downtown Rochester each year. With all the improvements and stellar line up that we have arranged for this year, Party in the Park will continue to grow its popularity,” said producer Jeff Springut.

This year’s lineup includes:

• June 14: Anders Osborne, Parsonsfield
• June 21: Get the Led Out – The American Led Zeppelin, Personal Blend
• June 28: Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Barroom Philosophers, Aaron Rizzo
• July 5: Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Uma Galera
• July 12: G. Love & Special Sauce, Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express, Amanda Lee Peers
• July 19: The Original Wailers, Ginkgoa, Grupo NEXTLEVEL
• July 26: Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts, Tommy Brunett Band, Hayley Jane and the Primates
• August 2: Almost Queen, Big Eyed Phish – Dave Matthews Tribute Band

General admission tickets for Party in the Park are $5 (children 12 and under are free). Tickets and passes can be purchased at the gate, through Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000 with associated service charges) or at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial box office, 100 Exchange Blvd.

Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water into the Party in the Park concerts. Lawn chairs, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed in.

In the event of extreme inclement weather, the rain location for Party in the Park concerts will be at Anthology, 336 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14604.

Parking is available at nearby parking garages including the Washington Square Garage, 111 Woodbury Blvd.; the Court Street Garage, 194 Court St.; and at the East End Garage, 475 E. Main St. Parking will also be available at The Strong Museum, 1 Manhattan Square.
