News Release - Family Day at the Beach Features Wheels in Motion Car Show and Annual Boat Parade of Lights

(Wednesday, July 18, 2018) – Ontario Beach Park will host Family Day at the Beach, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 21.

Family Day at the Beach is sponsored by the all-volunteer Ontario Beach Park Program Committee and the Port of Rochester Marina, with support from the City of Rochester, Wegmans and Monroe County. The event is a great way to enjoy a summer day in Rochester with exciting activities by the beach.

The day kicks off with the annual “Wheels in Motion” Car Show, hosted by the Rochester Corvette Club. Over 200 street rods, antiques, trucks, street machines and Corvettes will be on display in the park. There will be a 50/50 raffle with the award presentation at 4 p.m. and proceeds from the event will benefit the Challenger Miracle Field.

Family Day at the Beach will also have free inflatable attractions for kids, community displays and the George Hogan Band will entertain the crowd with country favorites from 1 – 4:30 p.m. Party band “Soul Express” will perform in the gazebo from 5:30 – 8 p.m. and Port of Rochester bars and restaurants will feature food and drink specials and music throughout the day.

Wrapping up Family Day at the Beach at 8:30 p.m. will be the 2nd Annual Boat Parade of Lights. The marina and river will be host to over 20 boats decorated in keeping with this year’s “Holidays in July” theme. Free registration for the boat parade is available by emailing portofrochestermarina@gmail.com.

The schedule for Family Day at the Beach is as follows:
• 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: “Wheels in Motion” Car Show
• 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Community Displays and Children’s Inflatables
• Noon – 11 p.m.: Music and specials at Port of Rochester restaurants
• 1 – 4:30 p.m.: George Hogan Band (Country)
• 5:30 – 8 p.m.: Soul Express (Party Band)
• 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.: “Holidays in July” Boat Parade
