News Release - Mayor Warren Tapped for National Housing Task Force

 Mayor Lovely A. Warren  (Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren has been selected to serve on the National League of Cities Task Force on Housing, which will address how communities can better respond to the growing challenge of housing availability, affordability, investment and quality.

“I am honored to be included among this esteemed group of city leaders from across the United States to confront the critical issues related to housing,” said Mayor Warren. “I look forward to this opportunity to share our experiences and learn from others so we can provide our residents with the basic human right of safe, quality and affordable housing. Creating more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities begins in the home.”

The NLC Task Force on Housing is comprised of 18 municipal leaders representing a diversity of city sizes, geographies, roles in their respective regions, and market types. The task force will develop a set of best and promising practices at the local level, as well as policy recommendations to federal and state governments.

The Task Force on Housing is being created under the leadership of NLC President Karen Freeman-Wilson, Mayor of Gary, Indiana, and will be chaired by Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
