City of Rochester

News Release

(February 18, 2009) - Rochester Mayor Robert J. Duffy and Economic Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada marked the opening of KCI Engineering of New York P.C.’s new downtown office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today.

The new office, located at 255 East Avenue, is four times the size of the previous facility, allowing the firm to better serve clientele in and around the city of Rochester. The move brings seven jobs to Rochester’s Center City, with the anticipation of creating 15 more by the end of 2009 and possibly 30 more jobs within five years.

“I want to thank KCI Engineering for this show of confidence in Rochester as a great place to grow a business,” Mayor Duffy said. “The growth of professional engineering and high-tech organizations is very important to the City of Rochester and we are committed to doing everything possible to ensuring the success of this company. This is more great news for downtown Rochester.”

In addition to better positioning KCI to serve Rochester, the move allows the firm to continue expanding its service offerings and staff, said KCI Division Chief Jeff Perkins.

“With our recent wins for the city of Lockport multi-use facility, a bridge inspection contract for Eastman Kodak Company, the Erie County evidence storage facility and the Midtown Plaza project, we have a strong and diverse backlog and a great outlook for the new year,” he said.

KCI’s New York office was established in 2007 and has quickly grown from a staff of one to seven, providing transportation, water/wastewater, and facilities engineering services. The office serves municipal, state, and federal government agencies, as well as industrial, institutional and other private-sector clients.
