Rochester Police Department- Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Accident/Records Window and when is it open?
This resource is located in the City Public Safety Building, 185 Exchange Blvd. on the plaza level.
It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on holidays and weekends.
These records are provided only to the parties involved or their insurance companies. There is a cost of 25 cents per page copied.

Criminal record checks - how are they done?
To check your records you need to fill out an application to request them, and two (2) forms of ID are required. There is a fifteen dollar $15 fee and the records are mailed out within seven to ten working days. This process is for City residents only, County residents need to go to the Monroe County Sheriffs Office

Finger Printing - how and where can I get it done?
This service can be obtained at the Accident/Records window in the City Public Safety Building, 185 Exchange Blvd., plaza level.
Hours: Tuesdays - Fridays, 1p.m. to 3 p.m. only.
You must bring the finger print cards if they are for your employer. Two (2) forms of ID are required and there is a twenty-five dollar $25 fingerprint fee and a thirty dollar $30 for pistol permits fee (which includes fingerprints and a criminal record check.) 

Crime reports - how can I get them?
These reports are provided directly to crime victims and the individuals who report a crime. Others need to fill out a Freedom of Information Record Access Request Application . These applications are available at room 202A in City Hall, 30 Church St., or you can call (585) 428-7135 to have one faxed to you. There is a cost of 25 cents per page copied.
