Library Profile
The Central Library is the headquarters of both the Rochester Public Library and the Monroe County Library System. It occupies two buildings located on South Avenue in downtown Rochester; the Rundel Memorial Library Building, and the newer Bausch & Lomb Public Library Building across the street.
The Central Library's collection contains over one million books, newspapers, magazines, DVD's, and other materials searchable through the Library's on-line catalog. A staff of trained subject experts is available to assist patrons quickly and efficiently.
The Central Library also serves as a community gathering place for the free exchange of ideas and information. Study carrels, tables, and comfortable seating provide areas for quiet study or group gatherings. Simply Crepes Café serves breakfast, lunch and snacks on the first floor of the Bausch and Lomb Public Library building.
