The Literature area of the department includes a number of special collections and subjects:

American Sign Language materials available in print format 
Biographies of Authors, Poets, Journalists, Philosophers and Religious Figures
Extensive Poetry and Play collection
Fiction in both hardcover and paperback (ebooks and e-audio available from the Library's website)
Language materials in more than 75 languages
Library Science
Literacy materials and English as a Second Language (ESOL) in print 
Literary criticism - Over 6,000 titles
Literary reference, including various online databases: Contemporary Literary Criticism, Dictionary of Literary Biography, etc., available 24/7 on our website, and many other resources 
Materials for writers - Books on how to write and how to get published
Oxford English Dictionary (OED), unabridged, in print
Quotations - Books to search for quotations by topic or by author
Philosophy texts and reference sources such as the Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy
Religion includes resources on all major world religions as well as many other religions
Teen fiction

Media
The Media section of the department includes:

Audio visual materials in DVD format, from popular titles to documentaries, non-fiction titles, educational videos as well as foreign films from more than 40 countries.  
Audio books: fiction, religion, plays and poetry on CD; also some on MP3CD.
Audiovisual equipment rental:  call (585) 428-8360 for slide projector, 8mm and 16mm film projectors, and projection screens. A 24-hour notice is required for all equipment rental reservations.
