News Release

(Monday, July 20, 2009) - Mayor Robert J. Duffy and R. Carlos Carballada, the City’s Commissioner of Neighborhood and Business Development, joined owner Stephen Turri at the grand opening of Henry B’s and The Sagamore Grille, 130 East Avenue.

“Henry B’s and The Sagamore Grille are adding to the renewed vitality of Downtown,” said Mayor Duffy. “The jobs and the energy that these establishments are bringing are yet another indication that our city is on the move upward. I want to thank the owners for their commitment to Rochester.”

Operator and owner Stephen Turri moved his popular Seneca Falls restaurant to downtown Rochester’s East End. Over $1 million has been invested and 35 new jobs created in opening the establishments. Henry B’s restaurant occupies 3,500 sq. ft. of the space with 125 seats and will also be able to accommodate private functions and events. Henry B’s will be open 7 days per week for dinner. The Sagamore Grille occupies 1,750 sq. ft., with seating for 75 and will be open every day for both lunch and dinner.

Henry B’s features a stylish setting, designed around sharing cuisine. It can be explained as a sophisticated family-style way of dining that is upscale, but not pretentious. The servers guide the customers through the traditional Italian menu and help them create a well rounded dining experience. All dishes are apportioned to feed at least two patrons. Henry B’s will appeal to a wide range of customers and is particularly suited for those guests looking for value included in a fine dining experience.

The Sagamore Grille will be a classic bar and grill and is expected to compliment Henry B’s offerings. A more traditional format, it serves individual portions of classic comfort food in a casual pub atmosphere. The Sagamore Grille will appeal to the downtown lunch crowd and those looking for a place to grab a quick bite or to have a drink with friends or colleagues.

The City of Rochester’s Dept. of Neighborhood and Business Development assisted with funding from the Main Street Assistance and Small Business Matching Grant Programs.
