News Release - Mayor Duffy Cuts Ribbon at WebTitle Agency Expansion in Cascade District

City of Rochester

News Release

(August 20, 2009) - Mayor Robert J. Duffy, Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada and Sen. Joseph E. Robach joined partners John Nitsche, Matthew Schuler, Kevin Whiting and Alan Roides at the 3-year anniversary and expansion of WebTitle Agency Thursday. The business, located at 69 Cascade Dr. in the Knowlton Building, is a customizable abstract, real estate title search and title insurance agency.

“The success and expansion of WebTitle Agency is just one more example of downtown’s resurgence,” Mayor Robert J. Duffy said. “I commend John Nitsche, Matthew Schuler, Kevin Whiting and Alan Roides for their hard work and dedication to the Center City.”

"In 2006, we wanted to help the urban core of Greater Rochester improve and expand.  Hopefully our investment has prompted others to do the same," said WebTitle Agency President John Nitsche.  “Over the past three years, with the continued growth and addition of jobs, it was time to expand our location. We are honored to welcome the Mayor for this event as we continue to expand in downtown Rochester.”

The partners chose the Knowlton Building location for its close proximity to the County Clerk’s office and City Hall. In addition, the site was already "wired" from a previous tenant and offers free parking for employees at the building.

WebTitle Agency started with 6,500 square feet at the Knowlton building three years ago and has now added 8,700 square feet for a total of 15,200 square feet.

The primary reason for the latest expansion is that WebTitle Agency has grown both their local and national market share. The expansion has been fueled by the growth of a business they opened in November 2008, the Cascade Settlement Agency, which conducts real estate settlements and closings throughout the United States.

Since moving to the Knowlton building, WebTitle Agency has added 58 new jobs to the 22 positions originally brought to the city from Brighton in 2006, making them the largest locally-owned abstract company in the greater Rochester area.

Additionally, they have invested approximately $100,000 in new technology to assist in streamlining their various functions.
