City of Rochester
News Release
(Friday, Nov. 6, 2009) – More than 1,500 free tickets to the Veterans Day RPO POPS Spectacular have already been distributed to area veterans. Another 2,000 have been sold or distributed by the event’s sponsors.
The Veterans Day RPO POPS Spectacular will pay tribute to Rochester’s military veterans by providing area residents an opportunity to enjoy jazz and patriotic-themed music performed by the RPO Pops for just $5 a ticket. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial.
It will also feature performances by the Roberts Wesleyan College Chorale and trumpeter Byron Stripling.
The ticket price was set at $5 to make the concert accessible to area families, particularly those who have loved ones in the military serving overseas. Veterans can get in for free in honor of their service to the United States.
Tickets are available at the RPO and Blue Cross Arena box offices and at the Stars and Stripes Store next to the Veteran’s Outreach Center at 455 South Ave. Free parking for the show will be available in the Court Street Garage.
Free tickets are available to veterans and can be obtained at the Veterans Outreach Center. Limit four per family and veterans should be prepared to show proof of veteran status, such as a DD Form 214.
A GigaPan photograph will be shot at the concert and made available on the City’s Web site for viewers to share with their loved ones across the world. A GigaPan is a web-based, high-resolution panoramic photograph that allows people to zoom in on individual subjects.
