A city of Rochester native, Jackie is a graduate of Wilson Magnet High School and has a degree in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University.
A small business owner, with an office on Alexander St, Jackie provides Insurance and Financial services through State Farm. As a nine year agent, she conducts first time home buyer seminars with Pathstone and Neighborworks and has provided seminars focused on budgeting and savings with ABC Headstart.
Assisting the needs of the Rochester community is extremely important to Jackie and with the support of State Farm and City Hall she relocated her business from the suburbs of Greece to the city’s center in January 2009 to be more accessible to a larger community base. Prior to opening her agency she spent two years with Birds Eye Foods as a Marketing Manager and three years as a Brand Manager with S.C. Johnson in Racine, WI.
Jackie serves on several community boards, including IBERO American Action League, and Borinquen Dance Theatre. She was the President of the executive planning team for the 2009 Puerto Rican Parade as well as a mentor and presenter for the Red Cross Youth Leadership Development Program. She has also sponsored an annual scholarship at IBERO’s Annual Scholarship Gala in years past.
Jackie is a supporter of the Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball League and has participated in the Rochester Works Summer Employment Program providing a high school student with real work experience. She has worked with the Rochester City School District for several years through its Pencil Partnership Program, was a charter member of Rochester’s first Latino Rotary club, and played an integral role in IBERO’s financial sustainability program.
As a result of her work through State Farm and community activism, she was named Hispanic Business Person of the Year 2009 and recognized at the annual luncheon October 1, 2009.
Jackie was elected first in November 2009 to a four-year term as an At-Large Member on the City Council. Currently, she is the Chair of the Education Ad-Hoc Committee, a partnership with the Rochester City School Board, Monroe County Legislature and the City Council. She also is a member of the City Council's Finance Committee and Arts and Culture Committee.
