News Release - Flower City Challenge to Alter Several Traffic Patterns

Motorist Advisory

(Thursday, April 22, 2010) – The half marathon and 5 kilometer races associated with the Rochester Flower City Challenge will create a significant traffic impact along several city streets on the morning of April 25.

The following traffic advisories will be in effect the morning of Sunday, April 25: 
    • 7:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. - Starting on the bridge at Broad Street westbound to the impacted streets on West Main, Madison Street, Brown
             Street, Morrie Silver Way and State Street to East Main Street 
    • 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. - Will start at East Main from State Street to East Avenue to Right on Brunswick to Park Avenue to Goodman 
             Street 
    • 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Goodman Street from Park Avenue to Pinetum Drive. No Exiting Off I-490 to Goodman Street 
        o 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Exchange Boulevard from Ford Street to West Broad Street 
        o 7:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Court Street Bridge is closed to all traffic

The following intersections will not be closed but will experience delays: 
    • South Plymouth Avenue at West Broad 
    • South Clinton Avenue at East Main 
    • Chestnut Street at East Avenue 
    • Scio Street at East Avenue 
    • Pitkin Street at East Avenue 
    • Union Street at East Avenue 
    • Alexander Street at East Avenue 
    • Street Crossings at Park Avenue 
    • Harvard Street at South Goodman Street 
    • South Clinton Avenue at South Goodman (Access to Route I-490 East only) 
    • South Avenue at Alpine Street/Robinson Drive 
    • Mt. Hope Avenue at Robinson Drive 
    • Wilson Boulevard. at Elmwood Avenue

A color-coded diagram of the routes and describing approximate time of the road closures is available on the City Web site at www.cityofrochester.gov/rfcc. All times are approximate. Local residential traffic will be delayed but accommodated.
