City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010) – The Friends of the Public Market will host the Sixth Annual Artist Row Public Market Art Fair, a celebration of art and community spirit, on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St.

This year’s Artist Row will feature approximately 180 local artists and artisans, as well as live music. The event this year will also be the site for the kickoff of 2010 Rochester Deaf Awareness Week.

Like Artist Rows of previous years, the 2010 Artist Row features local artists and community organizations. Everyone's favorite Market vendors will also be open for food and beverages.

Admission and parking are free.

“When we began Artist Row in 2005,” recalls Mary Lou Lawson, President of Friends of the Public Market, “we saw the Public Market as our community’s natural gathering place and an ideal venue to feature local emerging artists. Every year Artist Row has grown, drawing a larger and more diverse following.

“We are proud this year that Artist Row will be the site for the kickoff of Rochester Deaf Awareness Week,” Lawson adds. “Hearing impaired artists will also be participating in this year’s show.”

Artist Row was founded in 2005 by the Friends of the Public Market, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with support from the City of Rochester. Artist Row has expanded each year. Last year’s Artist Row, which featured 168 artists and artisans, drew over 7,000 people.
