Urban Agriculture Working Group Community Garden Grant Program
With support from the Rochester Area Community Foundation (RACF) and the City of Rochester, the Urban Agriculture Working Group (UAWG) is excited to offer a funding opportunity to Rochester’s community gardens. Download an application and grant instructions here.
Assistance with community gardening
The City Horticulturist is your point person for questions about your community garden; and also to request available gardening supplies, which can include plants, soil, mulch, materials for raised beds, and the like. To inquire about needed materials, contact City Horticulturist Sara Lynn Scott at 428-8820 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rochester Blossoms and Perennial Swaps: this twice-annual program provides plants and other supplies to assist residents in their part in a city-wide planting in parks and neighborhoods
Flower City Kids: Each year in the spring, thousands of City of Rochester School District students cultivate plants in their classrooms, and plant them together in a huge planting event at Ontario Beach Park!
Garden Contests: Strut your horticultural stuff in our annual contest. There's a winter garden contest too!
Flower City Looking Good: Every year from April through October, this extensive series includes many horticultural workshops, projects, events.
Maplewood Rose Celebration: The annual honoring of our spectacular Rose Garden.
Thanks For Showing Your Pride: This initiative involves surprising residents with special door hangers that thank them for beautifying their property--and their street, neighborhood, and city!
Earth Explorers: Run through City R-Centers, Earth Explorers immerses city youth in the very real nature that surrounds them. This program includes flora-related activities!
