News Release

(Monday, April 18, 2011) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards and Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada welcomed the Nothnagle Realtors corporate headquarters to downtown Rochester today with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Nothnagle President and CEO Armand D’Alfonso also was welcomed by New York State Senator Joe Robach, County Executive Maggie Brooks and City Councilmember Adam McFadden at the new headquarters, located at 217 W. Main St.

Nothnagle purchased the 27,000 square foot, four-story building and the adjoining parking lot in 2009. Nothnagle Realtors and Nothnagle Home Securities Corp. are moving about 70 employees to the new headquarters now that extensive renovations creating three floors of Class A office space were completed in March.

Mayor Richards at Nothnagle“It is always an exciting day for Rochester when a new business moves into Rochester, but this development has enormous ripple effects that will go a long way toward revitalizing the surrounding area,” Mayor Richards said. “Nothnagle will anchor the city’s Cascade District and attract further investment to downtown’s western entrance. We are thankful for Nothnagle’s commitment to downtown.”

The total project cost was about $4 million. The City secured $485,159 in federal stimulus money to help offset the renovation costs and provided more than $1.2 million in additional assistance through existing business development programs.

“Nothnagle Realtors is excited to be at the forefront of the revitalization that is occurring in downtown Rochester,” said D’Alfonso. “With nearly 1,000 agents and employees, combined with the 150 local companies we do business with, we will drive traffic into the city. As the company continues to grow, we will be adding jobs at all levels of the organization. The downtown location has provided us the ability to draw from a diverse workforce.”

View from Nothnagle Interior“Rochester continues to be an excellent choice for business, and we have been able to attract many high-profile companies like Nothnagle to our central business district,” said Carballada. “There are a lot of exciting developments taking place in this area and we are certain Nothnagle has played a key role in setting that trend.”
