News Release - Annual Cardboard Event Seeks Donations for Homeless

City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, Aug. 5, 2011) – Organizers of this year’s Cardboard City are asking community members and organizations for donations to help the area’s homeless. Donations can be brought to the Cardboard City site in Washington Square Park, or to any City Recreation or Community Center. Cardboard City activities will begin during the afternoon on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and conclude late morning on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Youth from throughout the city will work together to create a “city” out of cardboard and will then spend the night outside in downtown Rochester’s Washington Square Park. The event is organized to bring attention to the issue of homelessness in Rochester and Monroe County, as well as to collect donations for local homeless youth and adults.
