City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011) — Mayor Thomas S. Richards and Department of Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada joined City Councilmember Carolee Conklin, N.Y. State Senator Joseph E. Robach and Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks to welcome D4, LLC—a national leader in litigation support and eDiscovery services—to Downtown Rochester with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony today. D4 Chief Executive Officer John Holland moved the company’s headquarters to 222 Andrews St. in the St. Paul Quarter district of downtown Rochester.

“Rochester’s economy continues to be driven by knowledge and innovation,” said Mayor Richards. ““D4 has mastered 21st century technology, helping law firms and corporations manage and compile data during litigation. We are grateful they have invested in Rochester and we wish them the greatest success.”

“D4, LLC is very excited to be a part of the revitalization taking place Downtown,” said Mr. Holland. “Our company has grown and the Downtown area made perfect sense for our relocation because now we are centrally located and closer to many of our customers.”

The company purchased and renovated the 15,000 sq. ft. building, which is the new home to their headquarters. The company’s previous headquarters were located in East Rochester. The $1.6 million project included building acquisition and renovations, relocation of staff and equipment, new data center equipment, new furniture and fixtures throughout the building. A Tier 3 Data Center was constructed in the basement. Renovations were fully “green,” utilizing high efficiency lighting and cooling and an under floor air distribution system to boost indoor air quality.

D4, LLC provides litigation support, eDiscovery services, computer forensics and information management services to law firms and corporate law departments. D4, LLC has a national presence with more than 100 staff in Rochester, Buffalo, Tampa, Lincoln, Omaha, New York City, Grand Rapids, Denver, Washington, DC, San Diego and San Francisco. 68 of those employees are in the Rochester location. In 2010, D4 was in the “Top Five” of the Democrat and Chronicle’s “Rochester Top 100” and in 2011 Inc. Magazine listed it as one of the fastest growing private companies in America.
