City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012) – R. Carlos Carballada, the City’s Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner and Rochester City Councilmember Adam McFadden today celebrated the grand opening of a new SUBWAY@ restaurant — the seventh for the city of Rochester — located at 910 Genesee St. They joined owner and franchisee Renu Aggarawal, President of KKSub, a SUBWAY@ franchisee organization based in Texas, along with Sheryl Franch, SUBWAY@ Director of Operations and Joseph Franch, SUBWAY@ Development Agent for Western New York.

“The City is very excited to welcome SUBWAY@ to Brooks Landing,” said Commissioner Carballada. “We are fortunate and grateful to have investors committed to the revitalization of this area of our city and so they are truly our partners. The neighborhood benefits from the vitality brought about by this beautiful retail space and our residents have a healthy, affordable dining option.” The new SUBWAY@ has also created nine jobs.

KKSub operates 23 SUBWAY@ restaurants in the Houston, Texas area and 21 SUBWAY@ restaurants in Western, NY. Located in the new Brooks Landing Business Center, the 1,014 sq. ft. SUBWAY@ nicely fits the needs and the demand for restaurants in this growing area of the city.

The area recently welcomed an 11-story Genesee River waterfront building that serves as housing for University of Rochester students, an 80-room hotel and 28 new homes at the Valley Court housing development. The Brooks Landing Business Center is a 28,000 sq. ft., two-story development occupied primarily by the University of Rochester for administrative offices. SUBWAY@ joins Boulder Coffee Company on the street level, with 8,000 sq. ft. of retail space remaining available for development.

SUBWAY@ at Brooks Landing is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mon. to Fri.; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sat.; and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sun.
