(Wednesday, May 23, 2012) – Enjoy extended hours Memorial Day weekend at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. Take in more than 150 growers on hand from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 25; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27; and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 28.
Shoppers can choose from the largest selection of vegetable and flower plants, hanging baskets, shrubs and garden ornamentation found under one roof in all of western New York.
Have a brown thumb? Stop by and consult with the plant experts from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County Master Gardener Program from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sunday and Monday.
Enjoy a full Market day from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26. The Market will offer fresh and local products from free-range beef to locally made cheese.
Stop in at the Market office, located at center of the Marketplace, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for a free tasting from Chef Tom Tobin. Chef’s Days at the market, scheduled for the fourth Saturday of each month throughout the summer, will feature demonstrations and tastings from local chefs who create their favorite recipes using local ingredients found at the Market. Local and amateur chefs interested in sharing their recipes are always welcome.
