News Release

(Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012) — Rochester welcomes 7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann & Papa Mali to week nine of Party in the Park tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 2.

The 10-week concert series takes place every Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Riverside Festival Site on the corner of Court and Exchange streets and brings more than 20 nationally and internationally recognized musical acts to Downtown Rochester.

7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann & Papa Mali is a hybrid of classic Bay Area rock and New Orleans funk. The band was formed by Bill Kreutzmann, former Grateful Dead drummer, and guitarist/vocalist Papa Mali. A majority of the songs were co-penned by Papa Mali and longtime Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter.

Local jam band Extended Family will kick off the party. The six-piece ensemble Teagan and the Tweeds, which boast a blues-country-folk vibe, will open for 7 Walkers.

Admission to Party in the Park is $2 and children under 12 are free. Parking is available on-street and at nearby parking garages, including the Court Street Garage at the corner of South Avenue and Court Street and at the Sister Cities Garage, 28 S. Fitzhugh St.
