Public Market Receives Reshaping Rochester Award

Rochester Regional Community Design Center (RRCDC) has honored the Rochester Public Market with a Directors Award at its annual 2012 Reshaping Rochester Awards event.

The Directors’ Award recognizes the market for its advanced level of community design, planning, policy and financial competency and achieved visible success over time. It recognizes key components of planning that are central to the RRCDC’s mission—following best practices, communicating a vision to the community, maintaining sound financial management, and demonstrating steps to sustain continued success.

Mayor Thomas Richards would like to congratulate Department of Recreation and Youth Services Commissioner Luis Burgos, Assistant Director of Recreation Jim Farr and the phenomenal team at the market for receiving this prestigious award. This award affirms the hard work and planning that goes into making the Rochester Public Market such a cultural and economic treasure to both City and the entire region. RRCDC recognizes what many have already touted; the Rochester Public Market is one of the top public marketplaces in America.

The Rochester Regional Community Design Center is a non-profit organization promoting healthy, sustainable communities by encouraging quality design of the built environment and thoughtful use of built and natural resources. For more RRCDC information visit
