News Release

(Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012) - City Department of Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada and City Council President Lovely Warren joined brothers Nicolas and Matt Grammatico for a ribbon cutting today to celebrate the opening of Banzai Sushi and Cocktail Bar, located at 682 South Ave. Specializing in Sushi and Dim Sum (Asian appetizers), the new restaurant is open late to serve the after-hours crowds.

“This establishment is the culmination of the hard work and vision of two brothers aspiring to offer something new to the flourishing South Wedge neighborhood,” said Mayor Thomas S. Richards. “We are thrilled to welcome this unique restaurant which adds a new flavor to the neighborhood.”

The Grammaticos desired be a part of the thriving city area. When the opportunity presented itself to secure this location, their dream of combining a sushi bar and cocktail bar under one roof was realized. The brothers retained the beauty and historical integrity of the space while providing an ambiance that is representative of the neighborhood.

Fifteen jobs were created with the opening of Banzai Sushi and Cocktail Bar, and five to ten more jobs are expected to be added in the coming years.

Banzai Sushi is open Mon. through Sat. from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sun. from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
