News Release

(Friday, Jan. 4, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced today that the City is providing free holiday-tree recycling service at five drop-off sites through Jan. 31.

One drop-off site is located in each quadrant:

  • Southwest: Genesee Valley Park tennis courts, opposite 1355 Genesee St. Extension;
  • Southeast: Cobbs Hill Park, Lake Riley Lodge east parking lot, Culver Road and Norris Drive;
  • Northeast: Norton Village, opposite 341 Waring Road.
  • Northwest: Charlotte, Estes Street, opposite Abbott's Ice Cream parking lot.
  • Trees can also be dropped off at the Materials Giveback Program Center, located near the corner of Colfax and Ferrano Streets.

The trees are chipped and the resulting mulch is available to the public in the spring at no charge through the City’s Materials Give Back Program.

Maps to the tree-recycling locations can be obtained by using the built-in What’s Nearby mobile web application at www.cityofrochester.gov. Select What’s Nearby and then choose Holiday Tree Recycling under the “Get more specific” menu.
