City of Rochester

News Release

(Monday, Feb. 11, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards has extended the dates of the online survey seeking public input concerning Downtown by an additional two weeks. The survey will remain open through Friday, March 1. Input received from the survey, in addition to input from public meetings will be included in the updated Center City Master Plan (CCMP), a document originally drafted a decade ago. More than 3,500 people have completed the five-minute survey to date.

“For nearly 200 years, Downtown Rochester has been the center of our region and it has seen many changes in that long history,” said Mayor Richards. “Our vision is to bring a renewed energy to Downtown that will help to reconnect people and bring more people to our Center City. Updating the Center City Master Plan is part of this effort and public input will help us lay out specific actions to realize this vision and—most importantly—to continue to inspire hope and confidence in Downtown.”

Some of the questions asked in the survey include: What do you think the City’s priorities should be Downtown? What are its greatest strengths? What can Rochester do to harness trends toward urban living and build on those successes?

The update of the Master Plan will produce a roadmap for development and help Rochester seek state and federal funding for important public infrastructure projects. To take part in the CCMP survey and for more information about the Center City Master Plan, visit the City’s website at www.cityofrochester.gov/CenterCity. The survey will close on Friday, March 1.
