News Release - Clarissa Street Reunion Announces Date for Annual Festival

City of Rochester / Clarissa Street Reunion

News Release

(Tuesday, July 2, 2013)—The Clarissa Street Reunion Committee and Mayor Thomas S. Richards today announced that the 18th Annual Clarissa Street Reunion will be held, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 17 on Clarissa Street.

“The Clarissa Street Reunion Committee is continually seeking ways to better serve and uplift the community,” said President John Ashford. “Therefore the Committee agreed to honor former 3rd Ward residents and members of the community who have given unselfishly of themselves to better the community.”

“The Clarissa Street Reunion is an important part of the fabric of the Rochester,” said Mayor Richards. “It is a festive, multicultural celebration that reconnects the people who once lived in this Westside neighborhood and the people who wished they had lived there. It reminds us of the strength every city neighborhood can strive to achieve. Our thanks go out to John Ashford, President of the Clarissa Street Reunion Committee and all committee members for their hard work and dedication to this annual festival.”

Eighteen years ago, former neighbors of the area created the Clarissa Street Reunion. This nostalgic reunion combines families, friends, food and festivities in a one-day extravaganza that attracts thousands of people to the neighborhood. There will be a parade, food and live music on three stages spread along the festival’s six blocks to bring former residents, former friends and new friends back “home.”

Interested food and arts & crafts vendors are encouraged to contact the committee for details on how to become involved. For more information, visit www.clarissastreetreunion.org, call 234-4177 or visit their Facebook page.
