BAAD Party canceled, MLK ice rink may be affected


(Wednesday, February 5, 2014) – The Central Library of the Rochester Public Library and City Library branches will close at 3 p.m. today due to adverse weather conditions. Additionally, all school-based Community and Recreation Centers will be closed today.

The Safe Sex Inc. Black AIDS/HIV Awareness Day (BAAD) Party scheduled for tonight at TiLC Ministries has also been canceled.

All non-school based City community centers will remain open for their regular hours. Several Library branches locations throughout the Monroe County Library System are closing early today.

The following City recreation centers and programs located at city schools will be closed:
• School No. 17 Recreation Center, 158 Orchard St.
• School No. 41 Recreation Center, 279 W. Ridge Rd.
• School No. 42 Recreation Center, 3330 Lake Ave.
• School No. 43 Recreation Center, 1305 Lyell Ave.
• School No. 46 Recreation Center, 250 Newcastle Rd.
• East High School Recreation Center, 1801 E. Main St.
• Pierpont Recreation Center (School No. 7), 31 Bryan St.
• Field Street Recreation Center (School 35), 194 Field St.

The ice skating schedule at the outdoor rink at MLK Park at Manhattan Square may also be affected by the weather. Patrons should call 428-7541 to get up-to-date information. Genesee Valley Park’s enclosed ice rink will remain open.
