News Release

(Thursday, February 13, 2014) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that the 2014 Party in the Park concert series will return to its original venue this at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square.

“We heard you Rochester. We know you’ve grown to love Party in the Park since it began in 1997 and we’re taking it back to its roots,” said Mayor Warren. “Party in the Park is going back to the park.”

“We are going to continue providing the best possible concerts for Party in the Park fans and we are thrilled to host them at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park,” said Gerard Fisher of Up All Night Concerts, promoter for the series.

The Party in the Park stage will be located near Court Street and audiences will enjoy plenty of shaded areas and be encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on the grass. A “village” area will include food trucks, working artists and other activities. A family friendly atmosphere includes access to the MLK Park playground.

Party in the Park began in 1997 at Manhattan Square Park and remained there until 2004, when it moved to the High Falls Festival Site. In 2008, the event outgrew High Falls and again relocated, this time to the Riverside Festival Site at the corner of Exchange Blvd. and Court St.

The 18th annual Party in the Park event dates will be Thursdays from June 19 through August 14. Complete talent line up and details will be announced in early May.
