City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, July 24, 2014) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren invites Rochester to eat out for lunch in Center City from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4 for “Chow Down Downtown,” a day to embrace the Downtown atmosphere and show support for food trucks, carts and local restaurants. The Mayor will be serving food from Effortlessly Healthy, one of the food vendors that will be parked outside City Hall.

“We want to celebrate our Downtown eateries,” said Mayor Warren. “All of our food trucks, carts and restaurants contribute to the lively and vibrant atmosphere that makes Downtown a unique place to live, work and visit. I hope you all come out for a fun time and a great lunch.”

Chow Down Downtown showcases the living tapestry of the lunch hour bustle from sounds of a noontime concert to the smells of the diverse Downtown food scene. The event takes place across Center City as many Downtown restaurants offer specials for the occasion. Six food trucks and two food carts, as well as live music by the City employee blues band, The Bureau Cats, will be featured on Church Street between State and Fitzhugh Streets. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event.

Featured food trucks and carts include:

• The Bento Box;
• Darrell’s Kitchen;
• Effortlessly Healthy;
• Hello Arepa;
• Le Petit Poutine;
• Papa Gigs;
• Mr. V’s food cart; and
