(Thursday, July 31, 2014) – City Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner Delmonize “Del” Smith, Councilmember Elaine Spaull and New York State Senators Ted O’Brien and Joe Robach joined owners Angela and Kathie Marmo at a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday celebrate the relocation of Sweet Sammie Jane’s from Chili, NY to Park Avenue.

“More and more businesses are moving into the city as testament to the vibrancy of Rochester,” said Commissioner Smith. “With the lively, artistic atmosphere of Park Avenue, Sweet Sammie Jane’s unique pastry offerings will be in good company. I wish the greatest success to Angela and Kathie.”

Sweet Sammie Jane’s is a dessert boutique specializing in French macarons, mini pastries, cakes and cookies. From wedding cakes to pistachio crème brûlée, the boutique features an extensive dessert menu. The boutique also offers retail items from cookie plates to gift cards and catering service with breakfast, sandwich and buffet packages.

As a graduate of Chicago French Pastry School’s “L’Art de la Pâtisserie” program, pastry chef Angela Marmo is eager to bring a bit of France to Rochester with the help of the more than 50 flavors of French macaron, a meringue-based confection made with almond flour. She has always dreamed of opening her own shop and as a native of the city, she is pleased to able to return to Rochester to make her dream a reality. Co-owner Kathie Marmo has always had a passion for the culinary arts as well. She manages Sweet Sammie Jane’s catering after running her own catering business in the Rochester area for 13 years. They chose Park Avenue for their new location because of the area’s eclectic character and central location as they aspire to be Rochester’s most unique dessert shop.

Business hours are Tuesday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
