Master Planning Process

What Will the Master Plan Mean for Mount Hope?

The Mount Hope master plan will be a comprehensive plan of action that sets the framework for future decisions made at the cemetery, reflective of a clear vision that is acknowledged and adopted.
The planning analysis will consider every aspect of the cemetery's landscape and use, and will be based on the goals of:

• Preservation and stewardship of Mount Hope as a significant cultural landscape and resource.
• Prolonging Mount Hope's function as an active cemetery.
• Conservation of Mount Hope’s trees and strengthening of the cemetery’s horticultural importance.

What Will the Master Plan Accomplish?

The master planning process will:

• Identify guiding principles that are intended to be a touchstone to guide current and future decisions affecting Mount Hope.
• Identify short and long term needs for the cemetery, specifying overall strategy and goals.
• Optimize land utilization, while at the same time improving the overall aesthetics of Mount Hope.
• Include feasibility studies to analyze the value and potential return on development projects.
• Evaluate existing facilities to determine their long-term sustainability and how they support Mount Hope’s goals and needs.
• Provide a logistical and realistic implementation plan for recommended projects.
• Identify potential funding sources needed to implement plan recommendations.
