City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, November 12, 2014) – Rochester area youth groups will meet to discuss community issues at the annual Steppin’ Up To Solutions Youth Leadership Conference from 1 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 15 at the Nazareth College Otto Shultz Center, 4245 East Avenue in Pittsford.

The annual conference is a joint partnership between the City of Rochester’s Youth Voice, One Vision (YVOV) program, the HEART Coalition for a Drug-Free Rochester and Nazareth College.

Steppin’ Up to Solutions is a day-long event during which youth dialogue on the state of the community and learn about what they can do to bring about positive change. Youth will use what they’ve learned throughout the conference to create a project which will increase inclusiveness and benefit the community in various areas.

The conference will culminate with project presentations which will be judged by event facilitators. The top six groups will win $500 to complete their community service projects. The top three groups will be invited to send representatives to the first face-to-face meeting with Mayor Lovely A. Warren as part of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.
