(Tuesday, January 6, 2015) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and Department of Recreation and Youth Services Commissioner Marisol O. Ramos-Lopez are encouraging city youth, residents and visitors to take advantage of the 2015 Winter Recreation program, which began Jan. 1.

“Here in Rochester we do not hibernate in the winter, we go out and embrace it,” said Mayor Warren. “The City’s winter recreation programs offer a wide range of events and activities for everyone to stay active and have fun during the winter months.”

“From the long-running Flower City Looking Good Winter Adventures Series to inspired programs at our R-Centers, there is truly something to entertain every interest this winter,” said Commissioner Ramos-Lopez. “This season offers our strongest lineup yet. We invite everyone to embrace winter and take advantage of what Rochester has available.”

Headlining the 2015 lineup is the Annual Winter Adventures Series, provided by the Bureau of Recreation and sponsored by MVP Healthcare. The series includes a wide variety of fun activities designed to get community members outside, active and engaged or learning something new during the winter. The series includes gardening talks at City Library branches, organized trail races, guided snowshoe hikes in City parks and ice skating.
