News Release - Mayor Warren Announces Summer Meals Program Sites

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, June 24, 2015) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced the City of Rochester will once again provide free, fresh and healthy breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under this summer thanks to support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

“As we work in Rochester to create safer streets, better schools and more jobs for our citizens, increasing access to a healthy lifestyle is key to these efforts,” said Mayor Warren. “Many children benefit from free breakfast and lunch during the school year, so continuing to provide meals in the summer can help us ensure that they are staying healthy all year long.”

Beginning Monday, June 29, kids can drop in during designated meal times to grab a tasty breakfast or lunch at 17 City of Rochester sites throughout the summer—no pre-registration is required. Summer Food Service sites include City R-Centers, the Genesee Valley Park Field House and Lake Riley Lodge at Cobbs Hill Park as well as community agencies, schools and churches. For details and a full list of City locations and serving times, visit www.cityofrochester.gov/summermeals.

Summer Meal partners including Foodlink, the Rochester City School District and the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency offer additional summer meal sites throughout Rochester.
