News Release - Windstream Party in the Park Continues Thursday with Lettuce

(Thursday, June 25, 2015)—Lettuce will perform at Windstream Party in the Park on the ESL Stage beginning at 5 p.m.,  tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, located at the corner of Chestnut Street and Court Street Downtown.

“I invite everyone to come Downtown to enjoy this popular concert series,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “The top notch talent, the food trucks, our kid-friendly activities and low admission price make this a great value. Events create vitality in the community, which leads to safer neighborhoods, more jobs and better educational opportunities.”

New this year, ESL, MVP Healthcare and NEWS10NBC will join Windstream as event partners. MVP will create a Family Fun Zone each week, featuring on-site kid-friendly activities. NEWS10NBC is the event’s television sponsor.

This year’s Party in the Park features a diverse array of music, including blues, funk, rock, reggae and country. Remaining headliners this year include:

- Kickoff Fourth of July Weekend Party! The event features 90s hit-makers Fastball and a full line-up of Rochester's best party bands, July 2;

- George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic (a funk, soul and rock music collective), July 9;

- Get The Led Out (Led Zeppelin Tribute), July 16;

- Jonny Lang (World renowned American blues, gospel, and rock singer, songwriter, guitarist), July 23;

- Victor Wooten (Five-time Grammy award winning bass player. Named to “Top 10 Bassists of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine), July 30;

- Dylan Scott (American country music singer-songwriter); and The Lacs (Modern Country), with a special appearance by Denny Hamlin’s NASCAR Spring Cup Series Toyota Camry, August 6; and

- Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (reggae); and Driftwood (Americana, a band with a rock n' roll soul and a folk art mind), August 13.

Food by local food trucks and vendors and local beer from Genesee Brewing Co. will be available.

Individual, general admission tickets for Party in the Park are $5 (children 12 and under are free). A ‘Party Pass’ is available for $35 (a $10 savings), which provides tickets to all 8 remaining concerts and access to an express entry line at each concert.

Tickets and passes can be purchased at the gate, through Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000 with associated service charges) or at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial box office, 100 Exchange Blvd. Members of The Strong can buy a Party Pass for $30 (a $15 discount) at The Strong Everything for Play! shop, 1 Manhattan Square Drive.

Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water into the Party in the Park concerts. Lawn chairs, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed in.

Parking is available at nearby parking garages including the Washington Square Garage, 111 Woodbury Boulevard, the Court Street Garage, 194 Court Street and at the East End Garage, 475 E. Main Street. Parking will be available at The Strong, 1 Manhattan Square.
