An Independence Day Greeting From Mayor Warren

Dear Friends

Mayor Lovely A. WarrenIndependence Day is always an incredible highlight to our summer season and the Fourth of July offers all of us the opportunity to spend time with family and friends and to celebrate our nation’s birth.

In Rochester we have a long history of exercising the unique and exceptional freedoms America offers its citizens. The legacies of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass -- who helped make sure every man, woman and child can realize America’s promise – are not just a part of the fabric of our city and region, but part of the fabric of America itself.

As our forefathers can attest, battles for equality and justice then and now were hard fought. There are still many to be won. But because of our freedoms, they can be fought and they can be won. For that, we can all be thankful.

I hope you and your loved ones have an exceptional Fourth of July. Don’t forget to come downtown for the City of Rochester’s annual fireworks display and please remember to celebrate safely.

Sincerely,

Lovely A. Warren, Mayor
City of Rochester
