Motorist Advisory

(Friday, Aug. 28, 2015) – The City Parking Bureau announced today that construction activities will impact normal operations at the East End Garage beginning Monday, Aug. 31 and are expected to last approximately two months.

The garage will experience significant changes on the ground floor, including the re-construction of the entry-exit plazas and lanes; the installation of a new revenue-control gate system and the installation of new drains.

During the first phase of construction, the northern entry-exit plazas - at the corner of Main and Swan Streets and at the northern end of Scio Street - will be closed. The entry-exit plazas at the southern end of Swan Street and the southern end of Scio Street will remain open.

Upon completion of the construction on the northern plazas, construction of the southern plazas will begin. Access will be shifted from the southern plazas to the northern plazas during this phase.

The construction will alter entry, exit and payment systems during the project.

  • Transient and hourly customers will be charged a flat-rate fee of $4 regardless of length of stay. Customers will pay the fee as they exit the garage by re-deeming a numbered ticket. Validated parking will be honored. Customers will redeem a validation stub from participating businesses as they leave the garage.
  • Parking for the Fringe Festival, Sept. 17 to 26, will cost $7 on a pre-pay basis.
  • Monthly customers will continue to use their automatic transponders upon exit and entry.
