News Release

(Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015) – The City of Rochester and area colleges and universities have organized College Day at the Market for Saturday, Sept. 12, at the City of Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. The goal of the day is to introduce students to the healthy, fresh, affordable food available at the Market, the cafés and specialty stands and shops and other offerings.

“Our newest residents have come from all over the world to study at our colleges and universities, which are among the best in the country,” Mayor Lovely A. Warren said. “We work hard to create jobs, build safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, and make our schools better so these students can have a bright future here in Rochester. I want to let them know that they are welcome in our city and we are proud to show them all we have to offer, including our world renown Public Market.”

College students and staff showing school IDs at the Market will receive a free Market shopping bag and Market Gift Tokens. Two student a cappella groups and a photo booth will provide additional entertainment for all market visitors.

In addition, a “Flavors of Rochester at the Market” guest chef will serve up a healthy twist on Ramen noodles, a collegiate diet “staple.” Flavors of Rochester is a partnership of the City of Rochester Public Market, the Friends of the Rochester Public Market and the Democrat & Chronicle Media Group.
