News Release - Mayor Lovely A. Warren Announces Upcoming Pet Adoption Specials

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that the City of Rochester Animal Services will host a series of pet adoption specials at the Animal Services Center, 184 Verona St. over the holiday season.

Thanks to Zappos.com, the Best Friends Animal Society and the Verona Street Animal Society, adoption fees will be waived for cats and dogs at the center to encourage shelter adoptions and place pets in permanent homes. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 through Monday, Nov. 30.  The shelter will be closed Sunday, Nov. 29.

On Saturday, Dec. 5 there will be another fee-waived adoption event for all cats and dogs in conjunction with a Lifesaving Impact grant from the Petco Foundation.

For the entire month of December (excluding the Dec. 5 promotion), adoptions for cats over one year of age are $25 and all dog adoptions are being discounted 50 percent. Regular adoption fees start at $90 for cats and $138.50 for dogs.

Please remember to bring a collar, leash or pet carrier to ensure that pets can leave the day of the event and make it to their new homes safely.
