(Monday, Nov. 21, 2016) – The City of Rochester’s Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP) and the RochesterWorks! Youth Summer Employment Program is seeking community partners to offer structured, project-based, paid work experiences for youth ages 14 to 20 during the summer of 2017.

This Request for Proposals seeks to identify qualified local businesses, non-profits and faith-based organizations with the skills, proper work space, facilities and payroll capabilities needed to provide a positive work experience.

These programs seek to immerse 700 youth in various career related themes including but not limited to: advanced manufacturing, culinary arts, entrepreneurialism, hospitality, career exploration, information technology, leadership, multimedia production the arts and workforce development. State and local funding is expected to provide selected work host sites with funds to compensate their participants.

Proposals are due by 11:59 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 and should be emailed to SYEP@rochesterworks.org. Applications will be evaluated based on creativity, specificity of experience, demonstrated expertise in project themes, level of youth engagement, measurable outcomes, contributing partnerships, fiscal capacity and overall cost efficiency.

All applicants must attend one of two bidders conferences scheduled at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.6, at the Danforth Community Center, 200 West Ave. Questions about this RFP will be taken at the conference only. No telephone calls. Questions may be forwarded in advance of conference to SYEP@rochesterworks.org. All replies will be addressed at the conference and subsequently posted on www.rochesterworks.org or www.cityofrochester.gov/SOOP following the conference.
