RFP – Rochester Riverside Convention Center Escalator Modernization
Project No. 17039
The Convention Center is the primary exhibition and meeting facility in Rochester. Opened in June 1984, the facility is the largest in upstate NY and currently offers 49,275 SF of exhibit space, a 10,000 SF ballroom, and 14,924 SF of meeting space. The facility is owned by the City of Rochester and operated under contract by the Rochester Convention Center Management Corporation.
The Convention Center has ten escalators that are original to the building. They serve as transportation to and from the South Avenue Parking Garage and the skyway to the Convention Center. They are experiencing significant maintenance issues and are nearing the end of their useful life. Parts are obsolete and can take six months to replace. Excessive funding amounts are being spent annually to try and keep these antiquated escalators operational.
The City of Rochester, through its Architectural Services department, is soliciting proposals from firms with team expertise in the specialty of vertical transportation for engineering/architectural services. Services would include generation of a condition survey, decision matrix, schematic design, design development, contract documents, and construction estimates for the modernization or complete replacement of some or all of the escalators.
A pre-proposal meeting for interested consultants will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, 123 Main Street, Rochester, NY 14604
