City of Rochester
(Tuesday, April 11, 2017) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today welcomed Governor Andrew Cuomo to Rochester to present on the FY18 New York State budget.
“Since taking office, the Governor has invested heavily in progressive policies that improve the lives of all New Yorkers – and this year’s budget continues that strong tradition,” said Mayor Warren.
“This summer, Upstate New York will finally be able to welcome ridesharing to our communities and I am sure that these companies will do everything they can to ensure that everyone in our community can utilize theses services, including our disabled community. By ensuring that ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft can operate in Rochester, more job opportunities will be created for our residents, additional transportation options will be available for our most vulnerable populations, and ultimately our streets will become safer because it is our hope that people will hail a ride after drinking,” said Mayor Warren.
“This year’s budget makes important reforms to our criminal justice system, supports the battle against opioids, makes investments in affordable and supportive housing in Rochester and helps our youth afford to attend some of our state’s best colleges and universities.”
Mayor Warren thanked Governor Cuomo and Rochester’s state delegation for their partnership and leadership in passing this year’s budget.
