News Release - Interfaith Memorial Service for Victims of Gun Violence Set for Thursday

(Monday, June 19, 2017) – In honor of Gun Violence Awareness Month, the City of Rochester will hold an Interfaith Memorial Service for Victims of Gun Violence at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22 at the Crime Victims Memorial at Highland Park. The service will feature prayers from leaders of several faiths, along with the dedication of a new tree planted in memory of Audrey Smith, founding member of Family and Friends of Murdered Children and Victims of Violence.

The service is open to the public and anyone who has been affected by violent crime, particularly gun violence, is encouraged to attend. The Crime Victims Memorial is east of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the lower portion of Highland Park. It is best accessed from the southern parking lot off South Avenue.
