(Friday, June 23, 2017) – The City of Rochester will join Rise Up Rochester to hold a Gun Violence Awareness Month Community Input Session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at Baber AME Church, 550 Meigs St.

“While shootings are on the decline, gun violence continues to take an immeasurable toll on our city and we must continue working to bring it to an end,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “Our community is filled talented and the energetic people who can help us end this plague in our neighborhoods. By working together, we can end gun violence and make our neighborhoods safer and more vibrant, which will lead to more jobs and better educational opportunities for our citizens.”

The Gun Violence Awareness Month Community Input Session will include an update from the RPD on the status of gun violence in Rochester. Afterward, participants will work in small groups to develop ideas and initiatives to generate more community involvement in the fight against gun violence.

Rise Up Rochester, Inc. is a nonprofit that empowers the community to establish and maintain a nonviolent culture and provides support to crime victims and their families.
